Whew, September is a happening month!

While staying in Central City, on one of our trips into Denver, we visited friends from the 70s.  It was great seeing Wayne & Norma.  They haven't change a bit; as much fun as ever.
Before we left the area, I took this picture of a hardware store in Idaho Falls for my friend, Paul:
We left the Central City/Blackhawk, Colorado area on Monday, September 6. Right after that, the Boulder Canyon fire started. We had traveled Hwy 119 many times during our stay there and probably passed some of the houses that have now been destroyed. Sad, sad story.

We spent the 6th at Raton Pass, NM and the 7th in Vernon, TX.  It started raining during the night in Vernon and we fought rain all the way into Dallas the next day.  We were driving straight into Hermaine that had brought record-breaking floods to the Dallas area.  The owners of the campground called and warned us to come in the back road as the west section of the road was under water.  This is what it looked like when we arrived; water right up to their driveway.  The water over the road went way beyond the trees in the background.  The bridge and creek are beyond the trees.  Usually, no water around the RV park property.  Amazingly, the next morning, it was all gone and there was no debris on the road!

So, we parked and got settled in; were watching all the tornado reports on TV with the map on the table so we could recognize all the little towns they were referring to as under warning.  We actually watched a tornado form; touch down and hit a transformer as a news chopper videoed it.  Then, we heard all the warning sirens going off in the park.  So, we loaded up the dog and headed for mom's house.  Kind of scary!

While in Dallas, my bff, Linda D took me to lunch at Eastern Hills Country Club.  Not only did we have a super meal, but we were able to sit and visit for quite awhile. . . but I forgot to take my camera  :(

Visited with mom and brother, David.  David was having a rough weekend.  During the storm, his house flooded with water/mud and Robin was on a cruise.  That left it up to him to clean up, take care of horses & critters, and go to his job every day which was already a full plate!  I would run away from home if I were him!

Saw my cousin, Ron and his wife, Louise who we have not seen in several years; caught up on "relative talk."
Had a fun visit with an old high school classmate, Linda A.
And of course, saw our babies, grandbabies & great grandbaby!
