Okay, first of all tonight, I am disappointed in the color saturation of my camera. Not sure what is going on. Then the washing machine is full of wet clothes and will NOT spin! Now, I am having trouble with the picture layout on the blog. I'll probably just give up and leave them in random order. Every time I try to move something, everything shifts to a different place.
So the morning started off with breakfast here with Bill & Sharon. Then we packed a lunch and headed to the Ghost Town of Animas Forks, a community built in the 1800s, elevation 11, 200 feet at the junction of the North and West Forks of the Animas River. At one time it had a population of 450 people. Many of the cabins are still standing. Lots of scenery along the way.
From there, we convinced Bill and Sharon to give Cinnamon Pass a try. We took the trail which runs along the Gunnison River over the pass (elevaton 12,656 feet) and a little past the American Basin cutoff where we found an awesome spot beside a rushing stream for lunch.
Maggie got in some good runs.
On the way back, we took the American Basin cutoff, but were stopped short. What used to be a "do-able" water crossing was completely out of the question for now. That's the picture where you can see Jimmy on the right side looking for a way to get across!
